The Challenge: The Federal Railroad Administration maintains a massive, critical database of highway-rail grade crossing inventory and accident history. The challenge was making this dense, life-saving data easily and instantly accessible in the field for emergency responders, transportation officials, and the general public via a mobile interface.
The Solution: I led the UI/UX design for the official Rail Crossing Locator iOS application. By integrating complex GIS mapping and advanced search filters into a clean, intuitive mobile interface, I enabled users to instantly pull critical crossing data, collision reports, and safety records based on their physical GPS location or specific DOT crossing IDs.
