The Challenge: The Federal Railroad Administration previously relied on expensive, cumbersome, and easily outdated printed manuals to distribute complex state laws regarding highway-rail grade crossings. The agency needed to digitize this massive volume of text into a cost-effective, easily updatable format.
The Solution: I led the UI/UX design to transition the agency from print to digital by creating a robust iOS application and a companion responsive web platform. By developing an intuitive digital index, custom iconography, and a dark-mode interface for field readability, I transformed a massive legal document into a highly searchable, cross-platform digital tool.
My Role:
- UI/UX Design & Cross-Platform Adaptation
- Information Architecture
- Custom Iconography & Presentation Design
The Impact: Eliminated substantial recurring print and distribution costs while ensuring safety officials and the public always had instantaneous, on-the-go access to the most up-to-date legal frameworks.
